Welcome to my page! I’m Erika Hammerschmidt, an author, artist and speaker living in Minnesota. I graduated from Augsburg College with majors in German and Spanish and a minor in Studio Arts. I work at Target as well as giving speeches on autism and marketing my books.
I am married to John Ricker, who, like me, is on the autism spectrum. And I’m too lazy to change this page every time I have a birthday, so I’m not going to tell you my age, I’ll just say I was born on June 1, 1981.
My four published books are listed on my book page. I have written a memoir entitled Born on the Wrong Planet, which was published by Autism Asperger Publishing Company. John and I also have a new science fiction novel, Kea’s Flight, which we have self-published though Lulu and Amazon:

John and I give speeches about our experiences together. We have spoken for many schools and support groups, even the Minnesota Autism Society.

One of my hobbies is making jewelry. Erika’s Enterprises, my new jewelry website, is where you can see and buy some of the pieces I have created.
There are a lot of pastimes that interest me, and my hobby page introduces you to a few of them.
