Helping out
25 January, 2010 - Posted by: erika
For the next 2 months (now through the end of March 2010) I'm going to donate 80% of my profits from selling stuff to
Doctors Without Borders to help them with their work in Haiti. This goes for
merchandise for my comic Abby and Norma,
books of my comic Abby and Norma, and
my handmade jewelry as well.
If I could donate proceeds from my book
Born on the Wrong Planet, I would, but it's professionally published and I don't get my next royalty check for a while, so I can't run a 2-month campaign for that. When I do get it, though, I'll probably use some of it for charitable purposes, too. I'm just that kind of person.
Booms and busts in the business section

Word of the day...
Bustiness: the quality of being busty; i.e. having a large bust.
This word must be of some significance to Rain Man the parrot, as you can see here:
Jewelry in a holiday show

I don't know how many of you have ever been to the
Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, but you might want to go there this December. Starting Dec. 3rd at 6:30 p.m. with a lovely tea party, the Gift for All Seasons show will include some of my handmade jewelry:
It is for sale, like the other items in this show, and makes a great gift. Some copies of my book might be there too.
Members' Show!

As you may know, I'm a member of
the Stevens Square Center for the Arts, and their annual Members' Show is coming up. That means you can see some of my stuff if you stop by the SSCA gallery on or after November 14th. (Gallery hours are admittedly a little weird: it's open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during exhibitions, except on opening night, when it's open a lot later: there's a party going on until 10. So plan your visit accordingly.)
It's easy to get to; just go to downtown Minneapolis and take the 11 bus straight from the Bancorp Center into the heart of the Stevens Square neighborhood. The gallery's right next to the Third Avenue Market. Remember, on November 14th there's an opening night party, with snacks and beverages, and everyone's invited!
So here's the new site

I've finally made the change from html pages to a content manager. All the hard work is done (transferring all the content). I may mess with the graphics a bit, since that's pretty easy, but other than that I think it's done.
So what's new in our world? Well, the embryos-in-space novel is in its final, final stages (yeah, I know, I've said that a lot). We haven't been invited to any autism speeches this season (must be the economy). I did give a speech on making jewelry, though, for a group called Artists del Norte. Went pretty well.
I'll post again when I have more to say.
